Lady Raiders Finish Runner-Up at Logan County Championships

The Benjamin Logan High School girls track and field team turned in a strong performance Tuesday night, finishing second overall at the Logan County Championships held at the Riverside Track and Field Complex.

Benjamin Logan totaled 110 team points, finishing behind Bellefontaine (152) and ahead of Indian Lake, Riverside, and Calvary Christian. 

The Lady Raiders were led by standout performances in both relay and field events. The team captured first-place finishes in the 4x100 relay (53.50) and 4x400 relay (4:38.75), continuing their strong showing in relay competition this season.

Individually, Abby Vance led the sprint group with a second-place finish in the 200 meters (26.20) and a second-place finish in the long jump (16-07). The distance group also contributed key points, highlighted by Peyton Smith’s second-place finish in the 1600 meters.

In the field events, Benjamin Logan continued to show strength, with Kyla Godwin (2nd) and Kaylee Hays (3rd) both surpassing 100 feet in discus. The high jump squad also impressed, with Joplin Schneider (2nd), Addy Anderson (3rd), and Madi Oaks (4th) all clearing 4-06.

The pole vault group added additional points, with Scarlett Elliott (2nd) and Penelope Elliott (3rd), while Sarah Miller set a personal record in the event.

Coaches noted the team’s effort in challenging conditions, including strong winds, and highlighted the continued improvement across events as the team prepares for the upcoming conference meet.

Benjamin Logan will return to action Friday at the Waynesfield Invitational, where field events begin at 5:00 p.m. and running events follow at 5:45 p.m.
