Benjamin Logan Jazz Band Hosts Workshop with Jazz Educator Todd Stoll, Prepares for Springfield Symphony Performance

The Benjamin Logan Jazz Band, led by director Myles Bowers, recently welcomed world-renowned jazz educator Todd Stoll for an inspiring workshop as they prepare for an exciting performance alongside the Springfield Symphony Jazz Orchestra.

​Stoll, a Springfield native and Vice President of Education for Jazz at Lincoln Center, has spent over 30 years promoting

jazz education worldwide. He worked with the students on jazz interpretation, improvisation, and ensemble dynamics, helping them fine-tune their performance for the upcoming Hammer Time: A Swingin’ Retrospective concert featuring legendary jazz drummer Jeff Hamilton.

​“Todd Stoll’s visit was an incredible experience for our students,” said Bowers. “Having direct guidance from someone of his caliber just days before our big performance was invaluable.”

The Benjamin Logan Jazz Band will take the stage as the opening act for the Springfield Symphony Jazz Orchestra’s concert on Saturday, March 22, at 7:30 PM at the John Legend Theater in Springfield. The event will feature Jeff Hamilton, who has performed with jazz greats like Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Diana Krall, along with a special “Battle Royale” drum performance featuring Maria Marmarou, a rising drumming star mentored by Hamilton.
