Benjamin Logan Board of Education Meeting Highlights — March 17, 2025

The Benjamin Logan Board of Education covered several key updates and approvals during its regular meeting on March 17, 2025.

Technology and Curriculum Upgrades
The board approved a $288,895 contract with the Western Ohio Computer Organization for network upgrades, with 70% funded by the federal e-rate program.

They also approved a six-year subscription to McGraw Hill’s Wonders, an evidence-based K–5 ELA curriculum aligned with the science of reading.

Student Recognitions
Seniors of the Month for March: Grace Frangis and Bryden Morris.

Principal Reports

• BLMS: iReady results show strong growth in reading and math. Plans are in place to expand tutoring and adjust the House system.
• BLES: Students are preparing for state testing, and a Math/Lit game night is planned for March 20.
• BLHS: BPA has six national qualifiers, the quiz bowl team won CBC and heads to nationals, and the BL Jazz Band will open for the Springfield Jazz Orchestra.

Personnel and Financial Updates
The board approved February financial reports, staff resignations, substitute pay at $115/day, and updated supplemental coaching contracts.

Travel and Donations
An Honors European History trip for July 2027 was approved. The board also accepted a $500 anonymous donation to cover negative lunch balances for qualifying families.
