Benjamin Logan Advances to State with Runner-Up Finish at Area Envirothon

Students from Benjamin Logan High School delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Area IV Envirothon, earning a second-place overall finish and securing a spot at the upcoming Ohio Envirothon State Competition.

The event, held April 28 at the Preble County Historical Society, featured teams 

from across Southwest Ohio competing in a rigorous, hands-on environmental science competition.

Benjamin Logan fielded two teams under the guidance of advisor Mr. Reames. Participating students included Trinity Helton, Junah Tingley, Winnie Bodin, Marlee Butcher, Annika Chappell, Ashlyn Kelsey, Alivia James, Elizabeth James, Dane Reffner, and Michael Dickey.

The senior team (Team #1) led the way with a runner-up finish and also captured top honors in Aquatics, earning the highest score in that category.

The Envirothon challenges students across five key areas: aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and current environmental issues, requiring both technical knowledge and teamwork.

With a top-four finish, Benjamin Logan advances to the state-level competition, where they will face top teams from across Ohio.
