BCS Orchestra Hosts All City Strings Concert, Recognizes Student Achievements

The Bellefontaine City Schools Orchestra program brought together student musicians from across grade levels for the annual All City Strings Concert, held Thursday evening in the auditorium at Bellefontaine High School.

The performance featured musicians from the 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Orchestras, 

along with the BHS Orchestra, highlighting the growth and talent of the district’s string program. In total, 122 orchestra students in grades 6–12 participated in the event.

​Following the performances, students were recognized with special awards, including the 110% Award, which honors dedication, effort, and leadership. This year’s recipients were:

• Vivian Baker – 6th Grade
• Mireya Tolen – 7th Grade
• Gracelynn DeLong – 8th Grade
• Landon Severt – 9th Grade
• Constance Carmen – 10th Grade
• Oliver Grandstaff – 11th Grade

Two seniors received top honors for their contributions to the program. Ava Dolan earned the Director’s Award, while Gracie Hood was presented with the National Orchestra Award.

Senior orchestra members recognized during the event included Belen Abrego, Ava Dolan, Isabelle Gunnett, Gracie Hood, Raya Millis, Chloe Stolly, and Emma Suman.

The orchestra program is led by director Laura Mitchell, who continues to guide students through a year of strong performances. In February, the BHS Orchestra earned a Superior rating at the Ohio Music Education Association State Orchestra Adjudicated Event, highlighting the group’s continued excellence.

The BHS Orchestra will next perform at Kings Island on April 25, followed by a combined middle and high school performance at the Fine Arts Festival on May 13 at BHS.
