Benjamin Logan Boys Bowling Falls Just Short Against Graham

The Benjamin Logan boys varsity bowling team hit the lanes Tuesday at Southwest Bowl in Urbana, taking on the Graham Falcons in another competitive CBC matchup. Despite a strong and steady performance across the roster, the Raiders came up just short, falling 2703–2607.

Varsity Match Recap
Head Coach Barney Sullivan praised his team’s consistency, noting several standout series:
  • Dylan Stewart – 203, 207 (410 series)
  • Jace Lyons – 177, 226 (403 series)
  • Wyatt LeVan – 189, 193 (382 series)
  • Pierce Jenkins – 171, 173 (344 series)
  • Colton Klopfenstein – 167, 165 (332 series)

Graham claimed 3 of the 4 Baker games, securing the final margin.

The loss moves the Raiders to 0–3 in CBC play, though Coach Sullivan noted continued improvement and grit throughout the match.

JV Match Recap
Graham also took the win on the JV side, 1995–1596, with Benjamin Logan short on available bowlers.

Bellefontaine standout Gracie Hood signed her letter of intent with Mount Mercy University earlier this week.

She was joined by her family, teammates, and coaches during the signing ceremony at T-P Lanes in Bellefontaine.

Hood chose Mounty Mercy because of the environment.

The Benjamin Logan boys varsity bowling team officially launched its 2025–26 season at home this week, marking the beginning of a new era for the program after last year’s Division II State Championship run.

With four standout seniors graduated, Head Coach Barney Sullivan noted that this year’s squad is focused on rebuilding and gaining experience. Despite a strong effort, the Raiders fell to the Shawnee Braves, 2711–2599, in their season opener.

Benjamin Logan Middle School Spelling Bee Champions

​Congratulations to 8th grader John Tingley, this year’s BLMS spelling bee champion!  John, son of Jason and Jacqueline Tingley, earned the title after an intense 19-round competition.

Runner-up honors go to 6th grader Avah Berry, daughter of Keith and Rebecca Berry. Both finalists showcased incredible spelling skills, focus, and perseverance!

The event was organized by 5th Grade Language Arts teacher Bobby Gill, with Assistant Principal Deepika Scheiderer serving as the pronouncer. Judges for the competition were Samantha Gessler and Sally Stolly.
Both John and Avah will go on to represent Benjamin Logan Middle School at the Logan County Spelling Bee on Monday, January 13 at 6 PM at the Holland Theatre.

BHS Quiz Bowl Team Falls on the Road

The Bellefontaine High School Quiz Bowl team traveled to Ridgemont Monday night. The team competed strongly, but lost both matches.

In the first match, the Chieftain Quizzers fell to Benjamin Logan 440-240.

Ethan Reynolds led the team in scoring with 75 points. Clara Core contributed 30 points.
