Bellefontaine High School Students Explore Real-World Finances with Honda Federal Credit Union's 'Game of Life' and Car Buying Workshop

Honda Federal Credit Union recently brought valuable financial literacy lessons to Bellefontaine High School through its engaging "Game of Life" activity and a "Car Buying Experience" session.

The Game of Life simulation gave students a hands-on opportunity to explore essential budgeting and financial decision-making skills. Community volunteers from relevant professions guided students as they navigated real-life scenarios, including buying a car, securing housing, managing childcare expenses, and covering everyday costs. Students were "aged" to 27, assigned careers, determined

salaries, and made decisions about marriage and family—offering a realistic glimpse into the financial responsibilities of adulthood.

Bellefontaine Falls to Kenton Ridge in CBC Matchup

The Bellefontaine Chieftains battled hard but came up short against the Kenton Ridge Cougars, falling 72-64 in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup on Friday night.

With the loss, Bellefontaine drops to 9-13 on the season, while Kenton Ridge improves to 10-11.

Benjamin Logan 8th Grade Basketball Wraps Up Strong Season

The Benjamin Logan 8th grade boys' basketball team put up a tough fight in their CBC Tournament semifinal matchup against Jonathan Alder but fell short, 38-30.

The Raiders started strong, leading 17-11 at halftime and keeping the game tied through three quarters. Despite battling

until the final buzzer, they were unable to hold off Alder in the final minutes.

Dottie the Therapy Dog Joins Second Grade Readers at Benjamin Logan Elementary

Benjamin Logan second-grade students have a new reading buddy—Dottie the therapy dog! Thanks to a connection between Anne Brienza and second-grade teacher Jackie Thompson, Dottie will be visiting second grade classrooms weekly to listen to students read, providing a calming and supportive presence as they develop their literacy skills.

Dottie’s first visit was a success, with each child having the opportunity to read to her for a few minutes. Teachers and students alike are excited to welcome her back in the coming weeks, as she continues to encourage young readers with her gentle and friendly demeanor.

Bellefontaine Chieftains Battle London in Close CBC Matchup

The Bellefontaine Chieftains fought hard but came up short against the London Red Raiders on Tuesday night, falling 52-47 in a competitive Central Buckeye Conference matchup.

With the loss, the Chieftains drop to 9-12 on the season, while London improves to 12-7. Leading the way for Bellefontaine, Jacob Salyer put up 18 points, with Jair Mundy contributing 16 points in the effort.

Students explored a variety of topics, with awards presented by Honda Technology, Logan County Electrical Cooperative, Logan County Soil and Water Conservation District, Logan County Land Trust, and the Mary Rutan Foundation.

Ohio Hi-Point Celebrates Nail Tech Students' Achievements

Ohio Hi-Point Career Center celebrated the achievements of its Nail Tech students on Monday, February 10 with a special Brush Ceremony marking their successful completion of the Nail Enhancements 101 class. At the ceremony, students were awarded certificates and their first professional brush kits.

Ginger Shellenberger, professional mentor Tyann Scipio—an OHP cosmetology graduate from Salon Expo—has played a key role in preparing OHP's Nail Tech students for their next career step. She provided hands-on demonstrations and guidance on applying gel and acrylic polish. Additionally, she served as a judge for various nail art competitions, where students practiced different techniques and styles.
