Therapy Dog Dottie Brings Joy to Benjamin Logan Second Graders

Students in Mrs. Birt’s 2nd-grade class at Benjamin Logan Elementary had a paws-itively perfect day as they welcomed a special four-legged visitor. Anne Brienza and her therapy dog, Dottie, joined the classroom for an engaging reading session filled with books, cuddles, and wagging tails.

Dottie provided a calm and supportive presence as students took turns reading aloud, making the experience even more enjoyable. The event highlighted the benefits of therapy animals in education, fostering confidence and enthusiasm for reading among young learners.
The smiles on the students’ faces said it all—reading is even more fun with a furry friend! Mrs. Birt’s class looks forward to more visits from Dottie as they continue to grow their love for books.

The Bellefontaine Chieftains’ tournament run came to an end Wednesday night as they fell to the No. 2-seeded Oakwood Lumberjacks 62-52 in the district semifinals.

Bellefontaine led 45-40 heading into the final quarter, but Oakwood surged ahead with a dominant 22-7 fourth quarter to secure the win. The loss ends the Chieftains' season with a 10-14 record, while Oakwood advances with a 19-5 record.

Bellefontaine Chieftains Advance in Division 4 Tournament with Win Over Bethel Bees

​The Bellefontaine Chieftains secured an impressive 55-48 victory over the higher-seeded Bethel Township Bees in the first round of the Southwest District - Division 4 tournament.

With this win, the Chieftains improve their season record to 10-13, while Bethel finishes their season at 14-9.

Grayson Lotts led the scoring for Bellefontaine with 15 points. Jair Mundy added 12 points, Jacob Salyer contributed
11, Patrick Stolly scored 9, and Braylon Newcomb rounded out the scoring with 8 points.

The Chieftains will return to action on Wednesday, facing the Dayton Oakwood Lumberjacks at Xenia High School. The tournament matchup is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
