West Liberty Business Association Hosts Annual Dinner, Celebrates Local Achievements

West Liberty, OH – The West Liberty Business Association (WLBA) held its annual dinner at the Historical West Liberty Opera House on January 16, 2025, bringing together community members and business leaders to celebrate the past year's accomplishments and look forward to future initiatives. ​

Heather Chamberlain, CEO of Theresa’s Gingerbread House Childcare Centers and President of the WLBA, welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude for their support. She emphasized the importance of community involvement and encouraged continued participation in WLBA activities. 

The evening featured several highlights: 

• Floral Donations and Door Prizes: Beautiful flower arrangements donated by Dorcey's adorned the entertainment table and were later given away as door prizes. Attendees also had the chance to win one of 15 door prizes, including three bottles of wine from Dragonfly Winery, chocolate-covered Oreos from Marie's Candies, and a special bottle of wine from Mac-O-Chee Castle Venue, donated by Ryan and Julie Cole. 

• Guest Speaker Announcement: JD Harshfield from Ohio Caverns announced a new quarterly night out event for WLBA members at The Mad River Farm Market, starting on February 20, 2025. The event will feature a "Name That Tune" DJ session hosted by Harshfield. 

• Business Milestones: Logan Lawn and Landscaping and Theresa's Gingerbread House, LLC Childcare Centers were honored for celebrating 35 years in business in 2025. 

Ryan and Julie Cole shared details about their new event venue, Mac-O-Chee Castle, promising a unique space for various events. 

Community Involvement and Achievements: 

• The WLBA has seen a steady increase in membership over the past three years, thanks to the efforts of its executive board and members. 

• The association has partnered with local organizations such as The Village of West Liberty, The West Liberty Lions Club, and West Liberty Salem Local Schools to enhance community outreach and events. 

• Notable events from the past year included the Easter Bunny Pancake Breakfast, the Summer Garden Tour, the Summer Street Market and Car Show, Spooktacular, the Christmas Parade, and the Christmas Tour of Homes. These events enabled the WLBA to make donations to The West Liberty Historical Society for the Bailey House and offer two scholarships at West Liberty Salem. 

Recognition and Awards: 

• Jake Vitt was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the community, including his efforts to clear snow from downtown sidewalks. 

• Hillside Greenhouse was named Business of the Month for January 2025. 

• Thoman’s IGA received the prestigious Business of the Year award for 2024, acknowledging their continuous support and contributions to the community. 

Heather Chamberlain concluded the evening by encouraging attendees to join WLBA meetings and volunteer for committees. She emphasized the importance of community involvement in driving the association's mission of promoting commerce and community spirit in West Liberty. 

The WLBA looks forward to another successful year, with plans to continue its community outreach and support for local businesses. ​
