Wacky Boat Races Return to Lakeview Harbor This Saturday

Get ready for a splash of fun this Saturday, August 10th, as the Village of Lakeview hosts its Harborfest Event, featuring the ever-popular Wacky Boat Races. From 8:30 a.m. to noon, participants and spectators alike are invited to Lakeview Harbor, located at the intersection of OH-235 and OH-366, for a morning filled with creativity, competition, and community spirit.

The Wacky Boat Races are back and more exciting than ever! Participants are challenged to build their own boats using non-marine materials and race them against other competitors in the waters of Lakeview Harbor. Creativity and ingenuity are the name of the game, as participants vie for the top spot and a chance to win prizes for their homemade vessels.

For those not quite ready to test their boat-building skills, the event promises plenty of entertainment as a spectator. Watching the unconventional and often humorous boats navigate the course is a highlight of the event, providing laughs and thrills for all ages.

Event Rules & Guidelines:

• Boats must be homemade using materials that float, but these materials must not be designed for marine use.
• No motors or paddle-like crafts are allowed; boats must be “people powered.”
• Participants must be 18 years of age or accompanied by an adult.
• USCG-approved personal flotation devices are mandatory for all crew members.

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., with races kicking off at 10:00 a.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive early, especially if their boats require any last-minute touch-ups. The number of heats will be determined by the total number of registered participants.
