Solvita Announces Summer Blood Drives to Meet Urgent Need

Solvita, formerly the Community Blood Center, is organizing community blood drives to address a critical shortage this summer. The public is urged to donate at these events:

• Mary Rutan Hospital Blood Drive
  • Date: Wednesday, July 31
  • Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Location: 205 Palmer Ave., Bellefontaine
• Logan County Discovery Center Blood Drive
  • Date: Friday, August 2
  • Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Location: 1851 State Route 47 West, Bellefontaine

​How to Donate
Appointments to donate blood with Solvita can be scheduled through the Donor Time app, by calling (937) 461-3220, or online at www.donortime.com. Walk-ins are also welcome at the Solvita Dayton Center, located at 349 S. Main St.

As an incentive, everyone who registers to donate at any Solvita blood drive or the Solvita Dayton Center in July and August will receive a Solvita “From One to Many” beach towel and will be automatically entered into a drawing for two tickets to Taylor Swift's Nov. 3 show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

To save time, donors are encouraged to use “DonorXPress” to complete the donor questionnaire before arriving at a blood drive. DonorXPress is available on the Donor Time App or at www.solvita.org/donorxpress.

Blood Donation Requirements

• Identification: Donors must provide a photo ID that includes their full name. Previous Solvita donors should also bring their Solvita donor ID card.
• Age: Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent; forms available at www.solvita.org or at the Dayton Donation Center and mobile blood drive locations).
• Weight and Health: Donors must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, though additional weight requirements may apply based on height, and be in good physical health.
• Eligibility: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) periodically updates blood donor eligibility guidelines. Individuals with questions about eligibility can email [email protected] or call (937) 461-3220. Appointments can be made at www.DonorTime.com.
