Rise FM Announces Merger with River Radio Ministries to Expand Kingdom Impact Across Ohio

​Rise FM is thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter in its ministry. After much prayer, reflection, and collaboration, Rise FM will merge with River Radio Ministries (RRM), the organization behind 104.9 The River in Columbus and 104.5 The River in Wooster, effective Friday, November 29, 2024. This merger is poised to significantly enhance the reach and impact of both ministries, bringing hope and encouragement to even more communities across Ohio.

The decision to merge stems from a shared vision: to do more together for God’s Kingdom. Mark Boyer, Founder and General Manager of Rise FM, explained, “This journey began in September 2023 when I felt led to ask a simple question: Are we better together? After months of prayerful consideration and discussions with RRM CEO Bill Montgomery, we concluded that the answer was a resounding yes. Together, we can combine our strengths to make a greater impact.”

What the Merger Means

• Broader Coverage: With the combined resources of Rise FM and RRM, the ministry will now operate across 15 radio signals throughout Ohio. Communities will experience the same great music, spiritual encouragement, and life-changing Gospel message that have been central to both ministries.

• New Name, Same Mission: Rise FM’s broadcast will transition to The River while maintaining the quality music, timely messages, and impactful programming listeners have come to love.
• Stronger Community Presence: The merger ensures continued involvement in local events, partnerships with businesses, churches, and organizations, and the continuation of beloved events like Rock the Lake at Indian Lake each August.
• Concert Opportunities: Listeners can look forward to more concert experiences, including RiverFest in Columbus each June, alongside other events throughout the year.

The leadership teams of both ministries believe the time is right for this partnership. While finances were not the driving factor, the merger allows for better stewardship of resources, expanded community connections, and a unified effort to share the hope of Christ across Ohio.

Timeline and Next Steps
The merger is scheduled to be completed by November 29, 2024, aligning with the stations’ launch of Christmas music. Listeners will notice the transition to The River but can expect the same uplifting content and familiar voices, alongside new personalities and opportunities.
