Ohio Overdose Awareness Day Event Scheduled for August 31 in Bellefontaine

The community is invited to participate in Ohio Overdose Awareness Day on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Recovery Zone, located at 440 S Saint Paris Street. The event, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., aims to raise awareness about overdose prevention, honor those lost to overdose, and provide resources for those affected by addiction.

​The event will feature a range of activities, including recovery speakers, a remembrance ceremony, and a presentation by Dr. Brad Landers from The Ohio State University on "The Science behind the Addicted Brain." Families are

encouraged to attend, with free food, a bounce house, and face painting available for children. Attendees will also have access to various resources to support recovery and education about addiction.

This event is sponsored by Recovery Zone, Community C.O.R.E., and the Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol Services Board of Logan & Champaign Counties (MHDAS). The day serves as a reminder of the importance of community support in the fight against addiction and overdose.
