New Purple Martin House Installed at Myeerah Nature Preserve

Thanks to a generous donation from Ron Ricketts of Zanesfield, the returning purple martins at Myeerah Nature Preserve will have a new place to call home this spring. Ricketts donated a 16-compartment birdhouse to the Logan County Land Trust, ensuring the migratory birds from Brazil have a safe and welcoming habitat.

Benjamin Logan Environmental Science Club, the newly renovated birdhouse was installed earlier today. This effort supports the ongoing conservation work at Myeerah Nature Preserve, which serves as a critical stopover for purple martins during their seasonal migration.

As spring unfolds, the Logan County Land Trust will monitor the birdhouse’s success in attracting and supporting the returning flock.
