New Primary Care Provider Joins Mary Rutan Urbana Clinic

Mary Rutan Health welcomes Leigh Ann Swank, APRN-CNP, as a primary care provider at the Mary Rutan Urbana Clinic. Leigh Ann is a dual-certified Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner who is now accepting new patients at our 1880 E. US Hwy 36, Urbana, location.

Launching her nursing career in 2008, Leigh Ann achieved an Associate Degree in Nursing from the Kettering College of Medical Arts in Kettering, Ohio. Deciding to further her medical education, Leigh Ann received a Master of Science in Nursing Administration in 2012 from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Ohio University in 2016. In 2020, she earned

​a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Postgraduate Certification (PMHNP-BC) from the University of Cincinnati.

Now a Champaign County resident, Leigh Ann has been married to her husband for over 25 years. She is a mom of two, and her kids keep her busy with school and sports events. When Leigh Ann has downtime, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and attending a variety of sports events.

Leigh Ann has professional experience in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients throughout the life span. She worked for over 8 years as a clinical staff nurse in advanced care, emergency, and post-anesthesia care settings. She then moved on to a Family Nurse Practitioner role in Champaign County. After receiving her PMHNP-BC certification, she began providing mental health services to her patients.

Leigh Ann’s extensive and diversified medical background allows her to personalize care for her patients. Her dedication to primary care and mental health ensures that her patients have access to collaborative, compassionate care, providing a reassuring level of service.

Leigh Ann joins our Urbana Primary Care Provider team, which includes Dr. Abdul Dada, Karena Hager, CNP, and Matthew Ross, CNP. Tammy Burkhammer, Director of Primary Care at Mary Rutan Health, expressed her excitement about Leigh Ann's addition, “With the addition of Leigh Ann, we look forward to shorter primary care wait times at our Urbana Clinic.
