MHDAS Board Invites Local Groups to Apply for 2026 Mini-Grants

10/1/2025

Logan and Champaign County organizations are encouraged to apply for the FY2026 Mini-Grant Awards Program, offered through the Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) Board. Up to $20,000 in funding will be distributed to support innovative local projects that strengthen mental health, promote recovery, and build healthier communities.

The annual mini-grant program is designed to support small, grassroots groups with limited financial resources but big ideas. Projects must align with one or more of the following goals:
  • Behavioral Health Prevention
  • Recovery Supports
  • Positive Family or Community Engagement

Eligible applicants include classrooms, church groups, small nonprofits, art or music organizations, neighborhood groups, PTAs/PTOs, libraries, recreational groups, and other community-based organizations in Logan and Champaign Counties with budgets under $250,000. School districts as a whole are not eligible, but individual groups within schools may apply.

Funding is intended for one-time projects or events that directly impact community well-being. Activities must take place between November 17, 2025, and June 30, 2026.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025. Applicants must complete the online application and submit a budget form, statement of eligibility, and W-9. Awardees will be announced around November 17, with funds distributed shortly after.

Last year’s mini-grant recipients included programs like:
  • A Summer Theater Camp that provided scholarships and new equipment for youth performers.
  • A Stress Less Camp teaching coping skills through art, yoga, and movement.
  • A Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group offering connection and peer support.
  • The Guys in Ties and Girls in Pearls program at Indian Lake Middle School, helping inspire respectful and confident young adults (pictured above)

These success stories demonstrate the powerful impact small-scale funding can have on our communities.
