Mary Rutan Health Welcomes Third General Surgeon Richard Nedelman, M.D.

Trusted southwestern Ohio general surgeon, Dr. Richard Nedelman, has joined the Mary Rutan General Surgery team! Bringing years of surgical experience to the existing team in Bellefontaine, Dr. Nedelman specializes in general dialysis access procedures, endocrine, and advanced laparoscopic procedures, including Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and colon resections for benign and malignant disease.

Dr. Richard Nedelman is a Springfield, Ohio, native and graduate of Springfield North High School. Dr Nedelman received his B.S. degree in biology from The Ohio State University and continued his education at the University of Cincinnati, where he earned his M.D. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati and was awarded the Max Zinninger Award, which recognized his outstanding performance as a chief resident. His successful medical career includes a history as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Wright State University, Chief of Surgery and President of Medical Staff at Springfield Regional Medical Center, and an active member of multiple medical societies.

Mary Rutan General Surgery now has three board-certified general surgeons who provide surgical care to our community for elective and emergency surgical needs, often unavailable in rural communities. Our expert surgical team provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art preoperative, intra-operative, and postoperative care. Additionally, our surgeons utilize the latest cutting-edge high-definition 4K technology in performing minimally invasive surgeries that significantly reduce the amount of time spent in the hospital and promote quicker recovery.

Dr. Nedelman will see patients in the Mary Rutan Ambulatory Care Center at 2160 Ewing Crawfis Circle in Bellefontaine. He will perform surgical procedures in the surgical department at Mary Rutan Hospital, which comprises ten private pre-/post-operative patient suites and five operating rooms, ensuring an efficient and safe operative experience with individualized attention.
