Macie Marmon Wins Benjamin Logan Middle School Spelling Bee, Advances to County Competition12/13/2024
winning word in the 25th round. Macie is the daughter of Logan and Tara Marmon. The runner-up was Laurel Smith, an eighth-grader and the daughter of Matt and Sarah Smith. The two finalists engaged in an exciting head-to-head competition that captivated their peers and family members in attendance. Assistant Principal Deepika Scheiderer served as the pronouncer for the event, while Susan Headings and Sally Stolly fulfilled the roles of judges. Both Macie Marmon and Laurel Smith have qualified to represent Benjamin Logan Middle School at the Logan County Spelling Bee, scheduled to take place at the Holland Theatre on January 14 at 6 p.m. Congratulations to these talented students and best of luck in the county competition! The spelling bee featured students from grades 5-8 who represented their classes with exceptional skill and determination. Participants from the 5th grade included Si Allen, Avah Berry, Kes Blanton, Sophia Carpenter, Mia Collum, Oliver Fleming, Carter King, Amelia Morris, Jediah Tingley, and Autumn Walls. Representing the 6th grade were Noah Brown, Jayla Bolling, Connor Collins, Lillian Bias, Brayden Wolf, Lila Franjesevic, Alexis Gootee, Juliana Meddings, Kolt Hays, and Gemma Rutan. The 7th-grade participants included Macie Marmon, Abel Ostrander, Quinn Kuba, John Tingley, Amelia Marmon, Jackson Sutherin, Dax Elliot, Savannah Rogers, Annemarie Shaffer, and Shelby Siefring. Finally, the 8th-grade participants were Gabby Thompson, Ashe Moorhouse, Miles Grandbois, Dallin Peterson, Laurel Smith, Elizabeth James, Sebastian Stokes, Landyn Shields, and Emma Murray.
