Logan County Libraries to Celebrate 125 Years with Community Event and Week-Long Activities

The Logan County Libraries is inviting the community to celebrate a major milestone—its 125th Anniversary—with a special event on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Knowlton Library.

Chartered in 1901, the Logan County Libraries system has served generations of residents and continues to be a cornerstone of the community 125 years later. Library leaders credit this longevity to the ongoing support of trustees, staff, and the Logan County community.

The May 6 celebration will feature a variety of family-friendly activities and interactive experiences, including:

• A special birthday storytime for children
• Photos with Pete the Cat, a popular storybook character
• A time capsule burial to be opened in 2051
• Crafts, giveaways, and light refreshments
• A historical display highlighting the library’s legacy in Logan County
  
  

The anniversary celebration is part of a week-long series of events taking place across the library system:

• Monday, May 4 – Edible Book Cake Contest (with prizes)
• Tuesday, May 5 – Library History Presentation with Beth Marshall of the Logan County History Center, plus music from the Mad River Dulcimer Society
• Wednesday, May 6 – 125th Anniversary Celebration at Knowlton Library
• Thursday, May 7 – Family program featuring Indiana Wild, an interactive live animal show
