Taking top honors were Shannon Byrd and Ty Hoskins, who impressed judges with a flavorful menu that included tacos, beans and dirty rice, and baked crescent rolls.
Finishing in second place were Judge Kevin P. Braig and ARC compliance officer Gary Ledford, who prepared a spicy chicken cacciatore paired with garlic crescent rolls. Other teams also showcased their culinary skills, with Christine Huffman and Ashley Carter creating a hearty chicken stew with stuffed crescent rolls, and David Lewis and Brandy Simons preparing a soup accompanied by chicken-filled crescent rolls. The event was supported by ARC treatment team members, who helped prepare the kitchen and organize the competition. Judges for the evening included Amber Pickford, Gary Haber, and Angela Pride, who evaluated each dish based on creativity, presentation, and taste. Beyond the fun of the competition, the event highlighted an important part of the ARC program—building healthy habits and life skills. Organizers emphasized that activities like cooking can play a meaningful role in recovery by promoting wellness, routine, and confidence. The Logan County Adult Recovery Court operates within the Logan County Common Pleas Court and focuses on helping participants overcome substance use challenges through accountability, treatment, and support. The program brings together a team of local professionals and community partners who work alongside participants as they build healthier, more stable futures. Events like the “Chopped” competition reflect the ARC’s commitment to creating positive, engaging experiences that support long-term success—both inside and outside the kitchen.
