Bellefontaine is set to welcome a new state-of-the-art baseball and softball training facility, Bollinger Baseball and Softball Instruction, on April 1, 2025. This exciting development is spearheaded by local talents Dalton Bollinger, Alex Jacobs, and Cameron Kern, who are bringing their extensive experience and passion for the sport back to their community.

Dalton Bollinger, a Riverside High School graduate, has an impressive background in baseball. After graduating in 2014, he
played for four years at NCAA Division I University of Toledo and spent summers with the Grand Lake Mariners and Chillicothe Paints. Post-college, Bollinger served as a Catchers Coach at the University of Saint Francis and an Assistant Strength Coach at the University of Toledo. Four years ago, he launched Bollinger Baseball and Softball Instruction in Sidney, OH, which has since grown to include 14 instructors.
Alex Jacobs, co-owner and manager, is a 2017 Indian Lake High School graduate. He was a two-time player of the year in baseball and a two-time all-state selection, including first team all-state his senior year. Jacobs holds several baseball records at Indian Lake for hits in a season, hits in a career, runs in a career, and career batting average. After high school, he played at Sinclair Community College, where he became the all-time hits leader, and then transferred to Division I Morehead State University, playing there from 2020 to 2022. Jacobs was a two-year starter and received second team all-conference honors his senior season, setting a school record for most consecutive games reaching base with 52 games in a row.

Currently, Jacobs is a Career Studies and Financial Literacy teacher at Indian Lake High School. He has also spent three years as an assistant coach for the football program and is currently the Quarterbacks Coach and Defensive Coordinator. Additionally, he is entering his third year as an assistant varsity baseball coach for Indian Lake. Jacobs works part-time with the business and facility, providing private lessons and training during the summer and winter.

Cameron Kern, originally from Beaver Falls, PA, now resides in De Graff, OH. A graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Kern was a pitcher and shortstop with a 3.86 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 114 innings. He went on to play baseball and earn a degree in Sport Management with a minor in Coaching from Notre Dame College, where he pitched 62 innings with 47 strikeouts. Kern has been with Bollinger Baseball and Softball Instruction for a year and a half, specializing in baseball pitching, softball and baseball hitting, and fielding. He is passionate about helping kids improve their skills and teaching the fundamentals of baseball and softball.

The new facility, located at 419 Garfield Ave., Bellefontaine, will offer a range of services, including 1-on-1 sessions, duo sessions, group sessions, team instruction, and facility team practice rentals. Training will cover hitting, infield, catchers, and pitchers, with personalized plans for players of all skill levels.

Bollinger, Jacobs, and Kern emphasize the importance of high IQ instructors who are passionate about developing youth players. The team also includes Clay Wisner, a Bellefontaine High School graduate who played at Bluefield State and Malone University and professionally for the Grand Junction Rockies, and Caleb Wurster, an Indian Lake graduate who played at Edison State Community College.
The decision to expand to Bellefontaine was driven by personal ties to the area and the high demand from local clients. "We have a lot of clients that make the drive over, along with the need for more instructors available in this area, it was a no-brainer," said Bollinger.

The facility aims to benefit the local community by providing players of all ages

and skill levels the opportunity to work with high-level instructors on a weekly basis. "We offer a place to go to learn how to grow as an athlete with passionate individuals who have been in the players' position before, wanting to get better," Bollinger added.

Registration for training programs is already open, with weekly 1-on-1 sessions starting on April 1, 2025. Interested athletes can sign up by messaging through the facility's website or Facebook page.

Bellefontaine residents can look forward to a new era of baseball and softball training, thanks to the dedication and expertise of local stars Dalton Bollinger, Alex Jacobs, and Cameron Kern.
