Kaleidoscope of Experiences at Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek July 26-27

Join artists, authors, educators, naturalists and scholars as you explore the integration of art, architecture, biography, history, poetry and the environment at the unique outdoor setting of Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek.  It is located at 10051 Township Road 47, West Liberty, Ohio.
 
The more sessions you attend, the more perspectives you will see like pieces of glass interconnecting in a kaleidoscope. A mixture of free activities, discussions, and presentations suitable for youth and/or adults are offered on this weekend of exploration.

The free event will be held in tents on the lawn between 11:00 – 4:00 on both days.  Admission fees still apply to tour Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek which will be open from 10:00 to 5:00 each day.

The program is sponsored by the Mac-A-Cheek Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that manages all educational experiences at Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek. Support enabling the MFH to host this event includes: The Peoples Savings & Loan Co.; McCarthy & Cox, Retirement & Estate Specialists, LLC; Mike and Jane Major, the Columbus Foundation, and the America 250-Ohio Commission as part of a project titled, From Mekoche to Mac-A-Cheek:  Identity and Place.
 
The event will offer a mixture of hands-on activities, discussions, and presentations by Castle Mac-A-Cheek staff, volunteers, and board members, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Logan County Soil and Water District, area teachers, visual and performing artists, and authors. A complete schedule listing all activities and timed presentations will be posted at www.piattcastle.org and a handout will be available at the welcome tent.
 
On each weekend day, a different biographer will be featured. On Saturday, OSU professor Elizabeth Renker will be in the poetry tent to discuss the 19th century Piatt poets especially Sarah M. B. Piatt, the subject of a biography Dr. Renker is writing. Two presentations are scheduled in the Poetry Tent each day. They are: Popular Poems from the Past at 1:30 and History Detectives at 3:00. The latter focuses on the fascinating puzzles that are part of biographical research.  Professor Renker is the History Detective on Saturday and Tony St. Clair is scheduled for Sunday.
 
At 3:30 on Sunday, Tony St. Clair will offer a reading from his recent biography, Daredevil at the Wheel, The Climb and Crash of Joan Lacoste.  A book signing follows.
