More than 50 members of the Indian Lake High School Class of 2026 came together recently for a sweet and symbolic start to their senior year. The group gathered at Laker Stadium for a Senior Sunrise, a tradition where classmates bring blankets and chairs to watch the sun rise on their final year of high school. The seniors enjoyed donuts, shared laughs, and reflected on favorite memories as they marked the beginning of the 2025–26 school year. This moment of unity and celebration set the tone for what promises to be a memorable senior year. In addition to the sunrise gathering, the seniors also came together with ILHS Guidance Counselor Greg Tuttle and Principal Kyle Wagner to highlight key dates and set expectations for their senior year.
Mr. Tuttle reviewed important information regarding college visits, FAFSA, application deadlines, armed forces lunch visits, ACT testing, and scholarships. He encouraged students to start exploring their futures now, advising, “If you have an inclination of what you want to do, talk with the people in the field. If you want to be a teacher, talk with a teacher here that you like and respect. If you don’t think you want to go to college, let’s talk to some folks who work in a factory. Parents are a great resource, as well.” Mr. Wagner reminded the seniors that this is their chance to leave a lasting legacy at Indian Lake. He emphasized leading by example for underclassmen, starting with pride in the school: cleaning up after games and contests and showing respect for school facilities. Each senior will also meet individually with counselors over the coming weeks to continue working toward graduation requirements, their “3E” choice (enrolled, enlisted, employed), and future goals.
