Heather Rivon Named Bellefontaine City Schools Teacher of the Year

​Bellefontaine Middle School band teacher Heather Rivon has been named the 2025 Bellefontaine City Schools Teacher of the Year by Quest Federal Credit Union.

Rivon, now completing her fourth year with the district, was recognized for her dedication to developing young musicians and fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. She teaches middle school band and was nominated by fellow music educators Ken Hoffman, Brice Henry, and Laura Mitchell, along with several students.

“There are so many inspiring Bellefontaine

teachers that deserve this award, so the fact that I was nominated for Teacher of the Year is such an honor,” Rivon shared. “It is a privilege to teach so many talented, kind, smart, silly, and creative young musicians each day. I'm grateful that I get to pour back into the band program that helped shape me into the teacher I am today.”

Rivon was honored alongside six other educators from across Logan and Champaign counties at the annual Quest Federal Credit Union awards banquet held Monday at Sloan Kitchen on the campus of Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.

Each recipient received a glass trophy, gift card, box of chocolates, and a school-themed centerpiece.

Rivon credits her colleagues, administration, and her husband Ricky for their support, and she continues to champion music education with enthusiasm and heart.
