A Mission to Heal
Camp Braveheart and Camp Echo are designed to help children and teens navigate the grieving process by building resilience and developing healthy coping strategies. The camps offer structured activities that encourage emotional expression and provide a sense of community. Camp Braveheart: Supporting Younger Children Camp Braveheart is a three-day day camp for children ages 6 to 13. It runs from Wednesday to Friday, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Activities include horseback riding, challenge courses, campfires, small group discussions, and creative projects. Meals, including breakfast, snacks, and lunch, are provided. The camp is free for all participants, thanks to funding from Universal Home Health & Hospice, The Green Hills Foundation, and The United Way of Logan County. Camp Echo: A Retreat for Teens Camp Echo is a weekend retreat designed for teens ages 14 to 18. The program begins on Friday evening and concludes on Sunday morning. Participants take part in small group discussions, healing art activities, and other camp experiences. All meals, snacks, and lodging are included at no cost, supported by the same organizations that fund Camp Braveheart. The Impact of Grief Camps Studies in grief management suggest that camps provide an effective setting for bereaved children and teens to develop resilience and process their emotions in a supportive environment. By combining therapeutic activities with peer connections, these camps help participants find strength and comfort in shared experiences.
