Congratulations to the March Senior of the Month, Owen Pummel, sponsored by 988 Lifeline and the Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol Services Board of Logan and Champaign Counties (MHDAS)!

Haylee is a senior at Indian Lake High School. Learn a little more about Haylee, her accomplishments  and future aspirations below!
School Activities and Awards
Here at Indian Lake I have been involved in Key club since my sophomore year and NHS since the beginning of this year. This year I was given the opportunity to represent my senior class as homecoming attendant. I have also been on the 3.5-4.0 honor roll my entire high school career.

People who have been an inspiration to me & why...
My mom has been a huge inspiration to me ever since I was a little girl. Becoming a cosmetologist has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always fascinated by my moms profession. I would beg her to take me to work with her so I could help out around the salon but of course I just wanted to go to watch her work. I would watch every step she completed from the way she would place foils into her clients hair to the way she applied acrylic onto a fake nail. I have now watched her grow in her career and become a successful salon owner. I aspire to be as successful as her when continuing in my career as a cosmetologist.

Lately I have been reading...
Lately, I've been reading books like Harry Potter, The Golden Compass, and The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe for my English class. On top of this, my good friends got me started on a book series last summer. Before this, I was not much of a reader. They made me realize that it wasn't that I didn't like reading, it was just that I was reading the wrong books.

My advice to parents...
My advice to parents would be to push your kids to do their absolute best; whether it is in school, their career, or a sport. Nothing is impossible.

My biggest regret...
My biggest regret is not realizing that every moment with my best friend Chloe was a blessing. Life is short and you don't know what the future holds.

Next year I will be...
Next year I will be attending the Ohio State Beauty Academy to pursue a career in cosmetology. This program takes about 11-14 months to complete. In other words, 1500 hours. After I complete this program and receive my cosmetology license I plan on starting my career at my moms salon. It has always been a dream to work side by side with her. I will be getting advice from the best of the best.
