Daulton Mosbarger Named New Head Baseball Coach at Bellefontaine High School

​The Bellefontaine Chieftain baseball program has found its next head coach in a familiar face. Daulton Mosbarger, a 2012 Bellefontaine High School graduate and current Social Studies teacher, has accepted the position pending board approval. This follows the resignation of Russ Hogue, who stepped down on May 30 after five seasons at the helm.

Mosbarger brings with him an impressive background in both playing and coaching. During his time as a Chieftain, Mosbarger

was a standout player, earning two-time Division II All-Ohio 1st team honors under the guidance of head coach Art Caudill. He set several Chieftain records, including career runs, doubles, and batting average.

After graduating from BHS, Mosbarger accepted a scholarship to the University of Akron, where he became a three-year starter as both a pitcher and outfielder. Following Akron's program discontinuation after his junior year, Mosbarger transferred to The Ohio State University for his final season in 2016. At OSU, he played a key role in the Buckeyes' successful season, which included a Big Ten Tournament title and a regional appearance. In the Louisville Regional, Mosbarger had a standout performance, going 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a home run against the second-ranked Louisville Cardinals.

Mosbarger transitioned to coaching in 2017, serving as the pitching coach at Urbana University. Unfortunately, after three seasons, the university closed due to budget cuts. Mosbarger continued to build his coaching experience, spending the past four seasons at REB Sports Academy, founded by former MLB player Jeff Reboulet. Additionally, Mosbarger has been an assistant coach for the varsity football team.

Looking ahead, Mosbarger is excited to take on the challenge of leading the Chieftains' baseball program. "I'm incredibly honored and excited to be named the head baseball coach at Bellefontaine High School. This program means a lot to me, and I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to give back and help lead the next generation of Chieftains," Mosbarger said.

The Bellefontaine community can look forward to a new era of Chieftain baseball under Mosbarger's leadership.
