Cobblestone Hotel & Suites Opens in Russells Point, Marking New Era for Indian Lake Tourism5/6/2025
The event brought together community members, investors, and local leaders to recognize the significance of the new 54-room hotel, which includes an indoor pool, bar, and a modern conference center. The opening is part of a broader effort to revitalize tourism and economic development in the Indian Lake area.
Ben Vollrath, President of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, reflected on the vision that brought the project to life, pointing to the success of the Cobblestone location in Urbana as proof of concept. “Thank you all that recognize this was a need in our community,” said Vollrath. “It is now our job to spread the word and keep it filled.” Local investor Mike Major emphasized the hotel's potential impact beyond lodging. He noted ongoing efforts to develop walkways that will connect the hotel to local businesses and the lakefront, creating a more walkable and inviting experience for visitors. “Investors are hopeful that the hotel will serve as a catalyst for more economic growth in the area,” Major said. Sue Webster, the hotel's general manager, shared that the response has already been strong. “We are already filling needs from travelers for many different reasons including, leisure, business, and more,” she said, adding that the hotel was “long overdue” for the Indian Lake region. This marks the 161st Cobblestone Hotel location in the country, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to serving small-town America with quality accommodations and hospitality. Another Cobblestone Hotel is currently under construction off U.S. Route 33 near Mary Rutan Urgent Care in Bellefontaine, with a hopeful opening in late summer. The opening of Cobblestone Hotel & Suites – Russells Point represents not just a return of hotel accommodations to Indian Lake, but a promising step forward in Logan County’s efforts to attract tourism, support local businesses, and grow the regional economy.
