Celebrating DD Awareness Month: Dennis Ross — A Legacy of Inclusion and Opportunity

RTC Services, formerly known as Ross Training Center, stands as a testament to the vision and dedication of pioneers like Grace and Bernard Ross. Their commitment to ensuring community employment for individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) in Ohio set a precedent for inclusion long before it became widely recognized.

​At the heart of this legacy is their son, Dennis Ross, whose journey embodies the impact of their mission.

Dennis was one of the first four individuals to work at RTC when it started in 1968. His career eventually led him to his dream job at McDonald's, where he became a beloved icon over his 17-year tenure. As a grill cook, dishwasher, and friendly greeter, Dennis brought joy to customers and colleagues alike.

Beyond his work, Dennis found fulfillment in sports, competing with the Braves in Special Olympic softball, basketball, and track. His passion for service extended into lawn care, a job he proudly maintained for many years.

Today, Dennis remains connected to RTC, spending time in The Studio weaving rugs and crafting art projects, enjoying the community that has supported him throughout his life. Though he now considers himself retired, his presence continues to inspire those around him.

Dennis’s story is a celebration of resilience, independence, and the power of community support. As RTC Services continues to evolve, it remains committed to creating pathways for individuals with DD, just as it did for Dennis all those years ago.
