Background on the Logo Modernization Project
The Logo Modernization Project began with a focus on updating the district’s visual identity while maintaining the strong traditions of Benjamin Logan Schools.
The Logo Modernization Committee worked with the creative team at Elle A. Design to bring the vision to life:
Student input was a central focus throughout the process. Dylan Vance, senior at Benjamin Logan High School and treasurer of Student Government, expressed his excitement about being involved: “As the treasurer of Student Government, I was very happy to be involved in the process of creating a modern 'Raider Steve.' I feel that it was important to have student involvement, and I feel that I contributed to the new design from a student's perspective while preserving our school's history and giving insight to key aspects of the new design. Overall, I am extremely excited about the new logo as it was much needed. I think the new logo looks more modern with a callback to the history of who Benjamin Logan was as an influential figure. I think the return to 'Old Gold' will fit better than that of our current gold, and I am excited to see how the new design looks on Raider apparel and throughout our schools.” Tristan Sheets, Class of 2025 and President of Student Government, emphasized the importance of student input: “From a student perspective, our voice was certainly heard and input considered. Upon the development that a new logo change was being pondered, the Student Government at the high school was the first student group to be informed of the specifics and provided the survey to be filled out. Furthermore, a significant majority of students in the high school made their voices heard once the survey was made public. I spoke with many students regarding their opinions on the matter and discovered a variety of viewpoints. Personally, while I do still like our current logo, I believe that the new design does a good job of retaining our colors, imagery, and traditional values with a modern style.” Community Reflections The updated design has been met with widespread praise from alumni, community members, and students: Courtney (Forsythe) Baker, a 2012 Benjamin Logan graduate, shared: “It was a privilege to be involved in the final phase of the logo redesign project. When I first heard of the logo change, I was worried about losing our Raider roots to the modernization of the logo. But the redesign team did a great job of keeping the Raider legacy, while also providing a clean and crisp design that I would be proud to wear.” Mark Butler, Class of 1982 graduate and employee from 1987-2020, reflected: “A fresh look without compromising our roots ... This is my perspective of the rebranding of our new Raider Mascot & Logo. The new modern sleek design maintains the traditional features of the original version; sword & musket, and the old gold trim. As an alumnus and thirty-four-year teacher/principal with Benjamin Logan, I appreciate the process and community involvement in the transformation of our new look. Go Raiders!” Amy Stoodt, a 1998 Benjamin Logan graduate, commented: “I was very skeptical of a change to our strong logo. I was happy to see it’s just a modern update and will still represent our strong traditions.” Wes Dodds, City of Bellefontaine Service Safety Director and 2002 BLHS graduate, praised the process: “The reimagined logo for Benjamin Logan Schools pays homage to our history, while providing a sleek, modern design for the future. I appreciate the district’s approach to engage the community and alumni to inspire this new design!” Activities Director Beau Harmon, another alumnus, expressed his pride: “We are going 'old school with the old black and gold' and are excited to unveil our updated logo! To honor our rich history, we took elements from our previous logos and combined them for this 'NEW' old school design. I believe this updated design pays homage to our strong history while giving a fresh look to our school district. Once a Raider, always a Raider!” Implementation With the Board’s approval, the Brand Standards Guide will be implemented immediately, ensuring consistent use of the new logo across all district communications, uniforms, signage, and marketing materials. The Logo Modernization Project highlights the strength of the Benjamin Logan community, blending its proud history with a forward-looking vision.
