and food booths. The funds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Battle Pups organization.
Seven student groups helped make the event a success by organizing activities or hosting one of nine booths around the stadium. Despite cloudy weather, spirits were high as participants walked a lap around the track and enjoyed games, refreshments, and camaraderie — all in support of cancer patients and research. “This year was extra important to have a good turnout,” said Rohrer. “Our NHS members really stepped up to make this event a success. Everyone we know has been touched by cancer in some way, so being able to raise money while having fun is always a win in my book.” Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event. Proceeds support cancer patients, promote early detection, and fund groundbreaking research. In the past year alone, the ACS has awarded 39 grants in Ohio totaling $24.5 million — more than any other private organization in the nation besides the U.S. government. Friday also marked the final day of classes for BHS seniors, making the Relay a fitting and meaningful way to close out the school year. Not receiving our content regularly?
