Ten student groups set up 13 booths around the stadium, offering games and food for attendees. This one-hour Relay Celebration raised an impressive $1,267 to support cancer patients, raise awareness about cancer causes, and fund research for new treatments.
The Relay for Life is the national fundraising branch of the American Cancer Society (ACS), which funds more cancer research than any other private organization, second only to the U.S. government. In the past year, ACS awarded 41 grants to Ohio, totaling $24.3 million. The BHS Relay for Life was organized by teacher Michelle Rohrer, who also serves as the National Honor Society advisor. Rohrer praised the efforts of the student members, stating, “Relay is one of our big events that we organize for the school year. Our members worked hard to gather the other clubs in the building to participate in the event. The members created signs to advertise the event along with designing a t-shirt to help raise money. The student members really stepped up to make this event a success. Everyone that we know has been touched by cancer in some capacity so being able to raise money while having fun is always a win in my book.” Friday also marked the last day of classes for seniors, adding an extra layer of celebration to the event. Congratulations to Bellefontaine High School for their dedication and success in supporting such a worthy cause! Not receiving our content regularly?
