Mary Rutan Health Now Offering Life-Changing Alternative Therapy for Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea

12/12/2025

Picture
Mary Rutan Ear, Nose & Throat is now offering Inspire® Therapy, a mask- and hose-free alternative to traditional CPAP therapy for individuals with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This innovative treatment option is designed for patients who have tried but have difficulty tolerating standard CPAP machines.

We are excited to offer this cutting-edge therapy to our community. Dr. Heath Tennyson, along with Dr. Kimberly Klapchar of Mary Rutan Ear, Nose & Throat and Dr. Mahmoud Qadoom of the Mary Rutan Sleep Center, will utilize both the Inspire System and the next-generation
Inspire V™ System.
The Inspire V™ System features an integrated respiratory sensor, eliminating the need for physicians to place a separate sensing lead. This innovation enables respiratory sensing directly within the implant, resulting in a more streamlined, efficient procedure.

How It Works:
The Inspire procedure involves two small incisions—one in the upper chest to place the implant and breathing sensors, and another under the chin to access the nerve that controls the airway muscles, including the tongue. When the device is activated during sleep, it gently stimulates the nerve, keeping the airway open and preventing obstruction.

“This innovative therapy is a fantastic alternative for patients who find traditional CPAP machines uncomfortable or intolerable,” said Dr. Tennyson. “Inspire Therapy has been proven to significantly reduce sleep apnea events and is associated with very high patient satisfaction. We’re thrilled to bring this breakthrough therapy to our patients and continue advancing sleep medicine in our community.”

Life-Changing Results for Patients
For many, Inspire Therapy has made a dramatic difference in sleep quality and overall well-being.

“One of the best decisions I have ever made. I sleep very well, and I don’t need to worry about hoses or cleaning the CPAP accessories,” said Kevin M., Inspire patient.

Patients interested in learning more about Inspire Therapy are encouraged to contact the Mary Rutan Ear, Nose & Throat office nearest them:

RTC is once again being recognized for its commitment to exceptional, person-centered services after earning a three-year accreditation from CARF International — the highest level the organization awards. This achievement reflects RTC’s longstanding dedication to quality care, strong leadership, and meaningful support for individuals across Logan County and beyond.

RTC’s connection to CARF dates back to 1977, when the organization earned its first accreditation at a time when only eight Ohio facilities had done so.
