Bellefontaine Chieftains Sweep Piqua in JV and Varsity Basketball

​BELLEFONTAINE, OH – The Bellefontaine Chieftains secured impressive wins in both JV and Varsity matchups against Piqua, showcasing strong teamwork and skill on the court during the Piqua Holiday Basketball Tournament.

Varsity Game Recap
The Varsity Chieftains dominated the consolation game with a commanding 68-38 victory over Piqua, marking their fourth win of the season.

  • Clement: 15 points (including 5 three-pointers)​
  • Newcomb: 15 points
  • Mundy: 10 points
  • Butler: 9 points
  • Salyer: 6 points
  • P. Stolly: 6 points
  • Lotts: 6 points

​Bellefontaine Senior Jacob Salyer received an academic scholarship sponsored by WPTW Radio, the host of the annual tournament. Jacob was also recognized for his outstanding performance by being named to the All-Tournament Team.

The JV Chieftains maintained their momentum, securing a 56-34 win over Piqua.

Raiders Wrestling Shines at GMVWA Holiday Tournament

​The Raiders traveled to Butler High School over the weekend to compete in the prestigious GMVWA Holiday Tournament. As a team the Raiders finished 5th in the small school division which features all D2 and D3 schools that attended. 

 Ben Logan had 2 wrestlers place in the top 8. Sophomore - Cooper Buck placed 6th and is not Ben Logan's only 2x GMVWA Holiday Tournament placer.

Bellefontaine Chieftains Claim Victory Over West Liberty-Salem in Non-League Matchup

​In a non-league matchup, the visiting Bellefontaine Chieftains came away with a hard fought 55-48 win over the West Liberty-Salem Tigers.  

The team was led by Jair Mundy with 17 points.  Patrick Stolly scored 15 points and Jacob Salyer added 8 points for the winning Chiefs.  

The JV Chiefs lost 55-39.  Zylar Huffman scored 12 points and Blake Loomis had 10 points for the Chiefs.
In the Freshmen contest, the Chiefs lost to the host Tigers 43-41 in overtime.  Tyler Rossey scored 14 points to lead the Chiefs and Tiler Monnin added 11 points.  

The Chiefs are back in action this coming Friday as they travel to play in the 98.1 WPTW Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament in Piqua against the state-ranked Russia Raiders.

Benjamin Logan wrestled their way to a dual championship today at Versailles High School

​In what was an uphill battle from the get go with giving up 18 points (3 forfeits) per dual the Raiders found themselves in a dog fight in the final dual vs the home Versailles Tigers. 

In what Coach Seeley described as the "gutiest dual ever". Several Raider fighting against some adversity and set aside their pain for the team victory. It was truly an amazing tournament!

Bellefontaine Chieftains Secure Hard-Fought Victory Over Tecumseh

​The Bellefontaine Chieftains hosted Tecumseh Friday night for a CBC matchup and came away with a hard fought 60-56 win.

The team was led by CJ Butler with 23 points.  Jair Mundy scored 15 points and Jacob Salyer added 10 points for the winning Chiefs.  

The JV Chiefs lost 43-32.  Sutton Daring scored 11 points for the Chiefs.
In the Freshmen contest, the Chiefs lost to visiting Tecumseh 43-37.  Tiler Monnin scored 12 points to lead the Chiefs.  

The Chiefs are back in action this coming Monday as they travel to West Liberty Salem.
