Mary Rutan Foundation provides $40,000 in support to students pursuing medical careers

Through the generous gifts of individual contributors, bequests and memorial donations to Mary Rutan Foundation’s scholarship program, Mary Rutan Foundation provides financial support annually to local students majoring in healthcare-related programs.

Since 1992, Mary Rutan Foundation has awarded over $2.5 million to local scholars. These funds have supported the education of nearly 1,200 current and future health care workers.

The community is invited to participate in Ohio Overdose Awareness Day on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Recovery Zone, located at 440 S Saint Paris Street. The event, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., aims to raise awareness about overdose prevention, honor those lost to overdose, and provide resources for those affected by addiction.

The event will feature a range of activities, including recovery speakers, a remembrance ceremony, and a presentation by Dr. Brad Landers from The Ohio State University on "The Science behind the Addicted Brain." Families are

encouraged to attend, with free food, a bounce house, and face painting available for children. Attendees will also have access to various resources to support recovery and education about addiction.

Legado Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Moves into Downtown Bellefontaine

The studio, located in Suite 3 at 210 West Columbus Ave, is the second new business to move into the downtown health complex, anchored by Anytime Fitness, this summer following the opening of the Academy dance studio.
