​Logan County Tourism Week is back and packed with fun, offering a full week of activities, discounts, and local experiences from Saturday, August 2 through Saturday, August 9. Whether you're a resident or visiting for the first time, this is the perfect opportunity to explore different parts of the county and enjoy all that Logan County has to offer.
​Each day features a different location or theme, with a mix of free and low-cost activities ranging from outdoor adventures and live entertainment to history, food, and family fun. Tourism Week Passports will be available at participating attractions, the Logan County Visitors Bureau (100 S. Liberty Spirit 3-Miler
Get ready to lace up your running shoes and show your Tiger pride! The 2nd Annual Liberty Spirit 3 Miler is back and set to take place on Monday, September 1 at 9:00 AM, as part of the West Liberty Labor Day Festival.

Starting and ending near the splash pad, this 3-mile race takes participants on a scenic route through downtown West Liberty and around the park. (Yes—we heard your feedback and promise to get the route right this year!)

Whether you're a serious runner or a community member out for fun and fitness, this race is for you!

The West Liberty Lions Club invites the community to one of its favorite traditions — the All-You-Can-Eat Fish Fry — on Saturday, August 2 from 5 to 7 PM at the Lions Park Main Shelter House.

This long-standing fundraiser is a delicious way to support local projects while spending a summer evening with family, friends, and neighbors. Guests can enjoy great food, great company, and live music by The Muleskinner Band!

The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Logan & Champaign Counties invites the community to join in the annual “Save A Life” Color 5K on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the beautiful Ohio Caverns, located at 2210 St. Rt. 245 E, West Liberty, Ohio.

The event is held in honor of Suicide Prevention Month and provides a safe, supportive space for survivors and community members to gather, remember loved ones lost to suicide, and support local suicide prevention efforts.

“Pack the Classroom” Giveback Drive Supports West Liberty-Salem Teachers This August

Pack the Classroom WLS
The community is rallying once again to support local educators through Pack the Classroom: A West Liberty Giveback, happening from August 1–31. Hosted by The Peoples Savings and Loan Company, this month-long supply drive is designed to help West Liberty-Salem teachers prepare for a successful new school year.

Supporters can participate in two easy ways:

BHS set to host Chat with the Superintendent

Bellefontaine Chat with the Superintendent
​Bellefontaine Superintendent Brad Hall is reminding the community of the next “BCS Chat with the Superintendent.” The purpose of the Chat is to give parents and citizens of the Bellefontaine City School community the opportunity to address topics of interest with the district’s superintendent. The Chat will be held Wednesday evening, July 30th, at the Bellefontaine High School Sloan Distance Learning Center from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The Chat will be limited to the first 20 people to register. Reserve your spot in the Chat by calling the Central Office at 937-593-9060. Once all spots are full, registration will be accepted for the next Chat. The next “BCS Chat with the Superintendent” will be held Wednesday, October 29th.

If you reserve a spot in the Chat, please enter through the auxiliary gymnasium doors (Door 18) at Bellefontaine High School beginning at 6:20 p.m. to check in.

Midwest Thunder 2025 Regional Quarter Midget Race Hits West Liberty

West Liberty will roar to life the weekend of August 2-3 as the Mac-O-Chee Quarter Midget Racing Association (QMRA) hosts the Midwest Thunder Victory Custom Trailers Regional Race at the West Liberty Lions Club Ballpark.

Kids ages 5 to 17 from across Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, and beyond will race quarter midget cars in a fast-paced competition to earn points toward a regional championship. This exciting two-day event showcases the talent and determination of young racers as they navigate the track in high-energy, family-friendly fun.

Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, a name synonymous with delicious, home-style fried chicken for nearly 60 years, honors Bellefontaine’s own Tavien St. Clair, a five-star prospect and the nation’s No. 2-ranked quarterback, with a special send-off celebration before he heads to Ohio State University.

The Bellefontaine location will host the hometown send-off on Monday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., welcoming the five-star quarterback recruit and his supporters for a community-wide event that spotlights St. Clair’s journey. Guests will have the opportunity to meet St. Clair, along with a live radio remote from ESPN-WING 1410 to help amplify the celebration.

"Hooked on Jesus" Youth Fishing Event Set for August 9 in West Mansfield

Free Event Offers Fun, Faith, and Fishing for Kids Ages 6–12

Hooked on Jesus Free Fishing Event
Families are invited to bring their young anglers to a special new community event, “Hooked on Jesus Youth Fishing,” happening on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Romans 1:20 Christian Retreat & Environmental Education Center, located at 1041 County Road 142, West Mansfield.

This free event is open to children ages 6 to 12 and combines outdoor education with faith-based fun. Kids will rotate through interactive learning stations to discover how to:
🎣 Set up and cast a fishing pole
🐟 Identify fish and understand fish habitats
✝️ Learn about Jesus, the ultimate “Fisher of Men”

At the end of the session, each child will receive a new fishing rod, reel, lures, and more—all for free! Families will also have the opportunity to fish together at the retreat’s two fully stocked ponds.

While there is no cost to attend, pre-registration is required.

Bellefontaine Kart Racer Jerome Wickham Delivers Breakout Performances in Intense Summer Stretch

Jerome Wickham, a rising kart racing talent from Bellefontaine, has emerged from a grueling summer stretch with impressive results, completing six races in just seven weeks across two major series.

​Competing in five Kart Racers of America (KRA) events and making the trek to Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for the Route 66 Sprint Series, Wickham continued to gain momentum in only his third season behind the wheel of his 60 mph, 9-horsepower Briggs & Stratton-powered Magik Kart USA machine.
