TRC Launches New SmartDrive Advanced Teen Driving Program This Summer

​The Transportation Research Center (TRC) in East Liberty is bringing back advanced driver education opportunities for local teens with the launch of its new SmartDrive Program this summer.

From 2003 through 2020, TRC operated an advanced teen driving school that helped train thousands of young drivers throughout the region with a focus on safe vehicle operation skills. Now, the organization is continuing that legacy with an updated hands-on driving course designed to help new drivers build confidence and improve roadway safety.

The ceremony starts at 7 o’clock at AcuSport Stadium.

This year’s BHS Distinguished Alumni are Jeffrey Edward Zell II (Class of ’98), Chuck Earick (Class of ’62), and Jay Nunn (Class of ’99).

Zell is a dedicated public servant, military veteran, and community leader whose career reflects a strong commitment to service at both the national and local levels. A 1998 Bellefontaine High School graduate, Zell went on to serve his country with distinction in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of honorable service.

Bellefontaine City Schools to Dismiss Early on Final Day of Classes

Bellefontaine City Schools will begin summer break with an early dismissal on the final day of the school year.

District officials announced that all school buildings will dismiss one hour early on Wednesday, May 27, which marks the final day of classes for students.

Students, staff, and families will then begin summer vacation before the start of the 2026-27 school year.
