Former Bellefontaine Baseball Coach Mark Brunswick Inducted into State Hall of Fame

Former Bellefontaine Chieftains varsity baseball coach Mark Brunswick has been inducted into the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, recognizing a career defined by success, leadership, and long-standing impact on student-athletes.

Brunswick was honored Friday during an induction ceremony held in Columbus, joining four other coaches in the Hall of Fame’s newest class.
​
During his coaching career, Brunswick led programs at Bellefontaine High School, Marysville High School, and Lehman Catholic High School. While at Bellefontaine, he guided the Chiefs to state tournament appearances in 2004 and 2006 and finished his career with more than 500 coaching victories.

​The Cosmetology juniors at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center recently completed Hair Cutting 101, reaching a milestone that puts them closer to achieving their cosmetology license.
 
After hours of practice, students demonstrated the proper knowledge and skill by completing six different haircuts and successfully passing two written tests.

Ohio Hi Point Fire Level 1 class for high school seniors
​Ohio Hi-Point Career Center is offering a new one-year Fire Level 1 program for incoming high school seniors, preparing students for careers in emergency services through hands-on training, industry credentials and a direct college pathway.
 
Designed as a 156-hour program, OHP’s Fire Level 1 introduces students to fire suppression, search and rescue operations, hazardous materials response and emergency vehicle operation. Students train with ladders, tools, power equipment and fire trucks while learning how fires behave in structures and how to respond safely and effectively.

The Benjamin Logan Athletic Department formally announced a meaningful change to its wrestling tradition this week, renaming its annual Raider Invitational to the Grant Invitational in recognition of the Grant family’s lasting impact on the program.

The announcement was made during a ceremony held prior to the championship finals, honoring former head wrestling coach Tony Grant, his wife Susie Grant, and his brother Robyn Grant, who served as an assistant coach. Together, the Grant family played a pivotal role in building the foundation of Benjamin Logan wrestling through years of leadership, dedication, and commitment to student-athletes both on and off the mat.

Environmental Science Club Builds Skills, Supports Outdoor Learning

The Benjamin Logan Environmental Science Club (ESC) continues to blend science learning with hands-on projects that promote health, stewardship, and practical skills.
​
In January, students explored the relative sizes of life forms, discovering how small bacteria and viruses are compared to the width of a human hair. Discussions focused on human health and ways to reduce the risk of microbial infection. A follow-up session in the coming weeks will address hygiene and healthful eating, including simple recipes students can prepare at home for their families.

BCS, Calvary Students Shine on Lee’s Wall of Fame

​Students from Bellefontaine City Schools and Calvary Christian were among those honored Tuesday night during the unveiling of the newest inductees to the Wall of Fame at Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken.

The ceremony was hosted through a partnership between the Bellefontaine Police Department, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, and 98.3 WPKO & 107.3 The Drive. Four students from Bellefontaine City Schools and two students from Calvary Christian School were recognized for their leadership, selfless service, and dedication to making the community a better place.

Each participating school selected one student and provided a written summary explaining why the student was chosen. Those summaries, along with student photos, are now displayed inside the restaurant as part of the Wall of Fame.

Benjamin Logan Elementary School will host its annual Science Fair on Thursday, February 19, continuing a long-standing tradition that has been part of the school community since the building opened in 1995.
For more than three decades, the Benjamin Logan Elementary Science Fair has provided students the opportunity to go beyond the classroom—working alongside teachers and families to explore scientific topics of personal interest, conduct investigations, and share their discoveries with others. Over the years, thousands of students have participated, with many continuing to nurture their curiosity for science as they progress through middle school, high school, and beyond. The Science Fair reflects Benjamin Logan’s commitment to sparking curiosity and inspiring lifelong learning.
