Winter Seasonal CDL Driver / Highway Technician 1

Work Locations: Multiple openings across Shelby, Montgomery, Miami, Mercer, Logan, Darke, Clark, Champaign, and Auglaize Counties (including Bellefontaine, Urbana, Springfield, and more).
Compensation: $21.64/hour
Schedule: Part-time, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (hours may vary)

Position Overview
ODOT District 7 is now hiring Seasonal CDL Drivers/Highway Technicians for the Winter Snow & Ice Season (2025–2026). Positions begin on a rolling basis every two weeks starting in early November through late December.

This is a great opportunity to earn seasonal income while helping keep Ohio’s roads safe and clear during winter weather.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform snow and ice removal operations
• Operate heavy equipment (dump trucks, loaders, etc.) and hand tools (chainsaws, etc.)
• Conduct traffic control and flagging
• Complete general highway maintenance tasks, including pothole patching, guardrail repair, litter pickup, crack sealing, drainage, and vegetation management

Qualifications:

• High school level education in basic math and English
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (must meet Ohio Revised Code section 4506 requirements)
• Ability to operate highway maintenance equipment
• Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug test (including compliance with federal FMCSA regulations; marijuana use prohibited, even with medical card)
