Job Overview
ODOT District 7 is hiring two (2) permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1) positions in Logan County. Candidates will be placed in the classification that best matches their qualifications.

This position plays an essential role in maintaining safe roadways and supporting public safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general highway maintenance such as patching potholes, repairing guardrails, mowing, litter pickup, and flagging
• Operate equipment to perform road repair and maintenance tasks
• Participate in snow and ice removal operations
• Attend CDL training if not already licensed
• Collaborate with team members to ensure road safety and maintenance standards are met

Qualifications
Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1):

• Education in basic arithmetic, reading, and writing
• Must obtain Class B CDL with tanker endorsement (no airbrake restriction)

Highway Technician 1 (HT1):

• Education in arithmetic including decimals, percentages, and fractions
• Three months of training or experience in operating basic equipment
• Must have a valid Class B CDL with tanker endorsement (no airbrake restriction)

Additional Requirements

• Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
• Must register in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
• Subject to federal drug and alcohol regulations (marijuana use, including medical, is prohibited)
• Must complete a one-year probationary period
