The permanent position is located at 149 Northview Drive and offers a starting wage of $24.86 per hour. The work schedule is typically 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., though hours may vary.
The ODOT Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and service on vehicles and equipment, completing minor repairs, assisting with more complex mechanical work, and maintaining repair and maintenance records. Daily responsibilities may include servicing cars, trucks, and equipment; checking fluid levels; changing oil and filters; performing tire changes; repairing vehicle components; working on hydraulic systems; assisting with snowplow equipment; and responding to service needs in the field. Candidates should have automotive repair and vehicle maintenance experience, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team. Minimum qualifications include 24 months of experience in automotive repair and maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment, or equivalent qualifications. A valid Class A CDL without air brake restriction and tanker endorsement must be obtained during the probationary period and maintained.
