About the Opportunity:The City of Bellefontaine is bringing municipal income tax collection back in-house and is hiring for multiple positions—from entry-level clerical support to supervisory roles. Be a part of a growing municipal team and help shape this new department from the ground up.

​Key Responsibilities May Include:

• Processing tax payments and maintaining accurate records
• Reviewing and auditing income tax returns
• Responding to taxpayer inquiries and resolving issues
• Preparing reports, statements, and correspondence
• Supervising or supporting other staff members (depending on role)
• Using computer systems and financial tools to manage taxpayer accounts
• Supporting public engagement and compliance with city ordinances
• Implementing efficient tax collection procedures

• Pay strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Are comfortable working with numbers, records, and financial data

Preferred Qualifications:Supervisory Roles:

• Experience in tax preparation, audit, finance, or public administration

Clerical Roles:

• Office experience (preferably accounting or customer service-related)

Education:

• High school diploma required
• College coursework or degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred (not required)
• Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) given strong preference
• Must be proficient with computers, financial software, and standard office equipment
